COOKIE POLICY
Last updated May 21, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Golfed LLC ("Company," "we," "us," and "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit our website at https://golfedapp.com (the "Website") or use our mobile application, Golfed (the "App," and together with the Website, the "Services"). It explains what these technologies are, why we use them, and your rights to control our use of them.
In some cases we may use cookies and similar technologies to collect personal information, or information that becomes personal information if we combine it with other information. For more information about how we handle your personal information generally, please see our Privacy Policy.
1. WHAT ARE COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES?
Cookies are small data files placed on your device (computer, phone, tablet) when you visit a website. Cookies allow the website to recognize your device, remember your preferences, and understand how you use the site. Cookies set by the website owner (in this case, Golfed LLC) are called "first-party cookies." Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called "third-party cookies."
In addition to cookies, we and our service providers may use similar tracking technologies on the App and Website, including:
- Mobile device identifiers such as Apple's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), Google's Android Advertising ID (AAID), and other device-level identifiers used to recognize your device across sessions.
- Software development kits (SDKs) embedded in the App, which collect technical and usage data automatically.
- Local storage such as HTML5 localStorage, used to store data on your device for app or website functionality.
- Web beacons, pixels, and clear GIFs, which are tiny graphics or scripts that allow us to understand whether you have viewed certain content or interacted with our communications.
- Server logs, which automatically record certain information your browser or device sends whenever you interact with our Services.
Throughout this Cookie Policy, we use the term "cookies" to refer to cookies and all of these similar technologies, unless otherwise noted.
2. WHY DO WE USE COOKIES?
We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
- Essential operation — to enable core functionality of the Website and App, including loading pages, processing sign-in, authenticating users, maintaining session state, and protecting against fraud and abuse. These cookies are strictly necessary and cannot be disabled.
- Performance and analytics — to understand how visitors and users interact with our Services so we can measure usage, diagnose problems, improve features, and evaluate the effectiveness of our product. This includes counting visits, measuring page load times, identifying crashes, and analyzing user journeys.
- Functionality and preferences — to remember choices you make (such as your selected courses, golfer type, home course, or display preferences) so we can provide a more personalized experience the next time you use the Services.
- Service provider integrations — to enable third-party service providers that support our Services, such as user authentication, app crash reporting, push notifications, subscription management, and analytics.
We do not use cookies or similar technologies for:
- Targeted or behavioral advertising
- Cross-context behavioral tracking across unrelated websites
- Selling or sharing personal information with third parties for advertising purposes
3. COOKIES AND TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES WE USE
Below is a summary of the specific cookies and tracking technologies used on our Website and within our App.
3.1 Website (golfedapp.com)
Strictly Necessary Cookies (first-party): Used for core website functionality, including secure page loading and basic security. These cookies do not collect personal information for marketing purposes and cannot be turned off through our consent tools, although you can block them through your browser settings (which may affect site functionality).
Analytics Cookies (third-party, Google Analytics 4): We use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC ("Google"), to understand how visitors use the Website. Google Analytics uses cookies (such as _ga, _ga_*) to collect aggregated information about visits, including IP address (truncated for anonymization where supported), browser type, device type, pages visited, referring source, time spent on pages, and approximate geographic location.
For more information about how Google uses this data, see Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy and "How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services" at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking site-wide by installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on available at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
3.2 Mobile Application (Golfed iOS and Android)
Mobile apps do not use traditional browser cookies, but they use similar tracking technologies, including device identifiers, SDKs, and local storage. The following technologies are used within the Golfed App:
Firebase Authentication (Google LLC): Used to register accounts, sign you in, and maintain your authenticated session. Stores authentication tokens on your device for session persistence.
Cloud Firestore and Cloud Storage (Google LLC): Used to store and retrieve your account data, course logs, profile information, and uploaded images such as profile photos. Uses device identifiers to associate stored data with your account.
Google Analytics for Firebase / Firebase Analytics (Google LLC): Used to collect aggregated information about how users interact with the App. This includes events such as screen views, course logs, badge unlocks, subscription purchases, app version, device model, operating system version, language preferences, country (approximate), session duration, and a Firebase-generated app instance identifier. Firebase Analytics may use the Apple Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) and Google Android Advertising ID (AAID) where available and where permitted. See Google's Firebase Privacy and Security page at https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy for more details.
Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC): Used to detect, report, and diagnose app crashes. Collects crash logs, device state, operating system version, and a non-personally identifying installation identifier.
Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google LLC): Used to deliver push notifications. Associates a Firebase Cloud Messaging registration token with your device. On iOS, also collects the Apple Push Notification service (APNs) token.
Apple Sign-In (Apple Inc.) and Google Sign-In (Google LLC): Used when you choose to register or log in using an Apple or Google account. These services may set their own identifiers and exchange authentication tokens with the App. Their use is governed by Apple's and Google's privacy policies.
RevenueCat (RevenueCat Inc.): Used to manage subscription purchases, validate receipts, and track subscription status across Apple App Store and Google Play. RevenueCat assigns an anonymous identifier linked to your account to manage your subscription state.
Apple App Store and Google Play (Apple Inc. / Google LLC): Handle all in-app purchases and subscription billing. We do not receive or store your payment information; only transaction confirmations and subscription status. Their use is governed by Apple's and Google's privacy policies.
Local device storage: The App stores certain information locally on your device, including authentication tokens, preferences, cached data, and your locally selected settings, to enable offline functionality and improve performance.
4. PERMISSIONS REQUESTED BY THE APP
In addition to the tracking technologies described above, the Golfed App may request your permission to access certain features of your device. These permissions are governed by your device's operating system and you may grant, deny, or revoke them at any time through your device settings. The App may request:
- Location services — to enable "near me" course discovery and location-based features. Granting location access is optional. The App functions without it, but certain features will be limited.
- Camera — to allow you to take and upload a profile photo. Granting camera access is optional.
- Photo library — to allow you to select an existing photo for your profile. Granting photo library access is optional.
- Push notifications — to send you alerts about badge unlocks, friend activity, friend requests, and account events. Granting push notification permission is optional.
On iOS, in accordance with Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework, you may be presented with a separate permission prompt before the App accesses certain device-level advertising identifiers. The Golfed App does not currently track users across other companies' apps and websites for advertising purposes.
5. HOW TO CONTROL OR DISABLE COOKIES AND TRACKING
5.1 Website
You can control and manage cookies on the Website in several ways. Most web browsers allow you to view, manage, delete, and block cookies through your browser settings. Please note that if you delete or block essential cookies, the Website may not function correctly.
To opt out of Google Analytics on the Website, you may install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Most modern browsers also support the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, which automatically communicates an opt-out preference to websites you visit. We honor valid GPC signals received from your browser as an opt-out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under applicable U.S. state privacy laws.
5.2 Mobile App
You may control certain tracking and data collection in the App through the following methods:
- Device permissions: Modify location, camera, photo library, and push notification permissions through your device's system settings (Settings → Privacy on iOS, or Settings → Apps → Golfed → Permissions on Android).
- Advertising identifier: On iOS, you can limit ad tracking by going to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and disabling "Allow Apps to Request to Track," or by declining the App Tracking Transparency prompt if presented. On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID through Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- App-level account deletion: If you delete your account through Settings → Account → Delete Account within the App, we will remove your personal information from our active systems within 30 days, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Uninstall: Uninstalling the App removes locally stored data from your device. Account data stored on our servers may remain until you submit a deletion request.
6. CALIFORNIA AND OTHER U.S. STATE PRIVACY RIGHTS
If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, or Virginia, you may have specific privacy rights under applicable state laws, including rights to access, correct, delete, and request portability of your personal information.
Golfed LLC does not sell your personal information for monetary consideration. Golfed LLC does not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do, however, disclose personal information to certain third-party service providers (such as Google Firebase and RevenueCat) under written contracts that limit how they may use that information. These disclosures are not considered "sales" or "sharing" under most applicable U.S. state privacy laws.
To exercise your privacy rights, please refer to the "What are your privacy rights?" section of our Privacy Policy, or contact us using the details provided below.
7. CHANGES TO THIS COOKIE POLICY
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the cookies and similar technologies we use, or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this Cookie Policy.
